I'm Feelin' Pretty Terrible

A message was left for me here the other day. It was not a very flattering message. But it was true enough. If you want to see it, check out the responses to the It's Alive post I made back in September.

To this person, and to everyone else, I apologize. It hurts me that this third book is taking so long. It hurts me even more to know that I have disappointed, and continue to disappoint, all the wonderful folks out there who like my work. I am sorry. 

I am still working on it. It is slow going, and admittedly sporadic, at times. I can only say that this past year has been one major upheaval after the next for me. It's not much of an excuse I know. I just hope that you can bear with me a little longer. Things are starting to settle around here and that means I should have more time to devote to this.

I love reading and I love writing. I can't wait until I can devote more time and a lot more concentration on both.

    Thank you for your response. I'm glad to see you're still working on the next novel in your series. I'd have loved to hear that you were nearly finished with it, but even knowing that isn't the case, I'll keep checking in and hopefully see an update every couple months. I'm sorry to hear that life threw you a curve ball. I look forward to your next novel.

    I'm just going to keep posting the below on every author's page where people are complaining...

    I think it's past time to invoke Gaiman's "Martin Is Not Your Bitch" statute... (Insert applicable author name.)

    While I still think Gaiman said it best, after growing up without much $ I'm just grateful not having to wait until the library gets a copy of something I'm waiting to read, much less just having the almost unimaginable ability to simply search, download, and read something some talented, but unknown author wrote from their home in minutes from my OWN home/car/hotel room, etc...

    If I enjoy a story I'll just read it when it's available and find OTHER stories while I wait... Some good threads on this on the P.S. Power and Luke Sky Wachter forums...

    This is an opportunity to discover even MORE great tales with the sure knowledge that on average less than the usual mainstream publisher timeframe of 2-3 years per release you'll STILL get to enjoy Trader's stories when they come out.

    Let's just enjoy the great reading environment we live in now days and do our best to ENCOURAGE the wonderful storytellers who are feeding our habit in between their lives (and usually in between/after their day jobs, as well)...

    P.s. This is written from someone who habitually reads 2-3 books/week on average so patience really isn't my strong suit, luckily my attention span is short! ;)

    Oh, I'm Dyre on Amazon, mainly a lurker, but a reader for over 35 of my 40+ years...

    Is it safe to assume that you are no longer writing this book due to the difficulties in your life?
